S-orbital Subsets

Unlike other sub-orbitals, the s-orbitals do not have subsets.

S-orbital Shape

The s-orbitals are spherical in shape, like a round ball.

S-orbitals in Each Shell

Every shell contains an s-orbital. As you can see below, the spheres increase in diameter with each shell. This is because the electrons in sub-orbitals closer to the nucleus repel those electrons in the outer sub-orbitals.
